This wonderful fish has a red checkerboard pattern on its white body. The nose is very long and apparently used to locate its prey from reef crevices. This is one of the least aggressive a hawkfish, and easily the most distinctive. Keep on one per tank, unless you have a very large aquarium. Provide with structures to perch on (it really likes gorgonians and black corals) and nooks and crannies to hide in. Generally very easy to care for.
Carnivorous, feeds on bottom-dwelling invertebrates and zooplankton.
Excellent, but may eat very small shrimps.
